13 JR

13 Auditions.png

"Cool" is sometimes where you least expect it in this coming-of-age musical about fitting in.

With a catchy rock score from Tony Award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, (Parade, The Last Five Years, The Bridges of Madison County) and a hilarious book by Tony winner Robert Horn (Tootsie, Shucked) and Dan Elish (13), 13 JR. tells a timeless story about fitting in - and standing out!

Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents' divorce. Now the new kid at school, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain... or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!?

A true coming-of-age musical, 13 JR. is made especially for adolescents with a universal message about friendship and being true to yourself.

Once casting is complete, rehearsals for this production are on Tuesdays at Great Barr War Memorial Hall (B43 7AX) from 5:30pm till 7:30pm. It is £7.50 a session.

To join our Great Barr musical theatre group and their production of '13 Jr', you must attend the free of charge audition day. No experience is necessary, and everyone gets a role! The launch night is optional to attend and also free of charge. It is an opportunity to meet other auditionees and the production team, in a more casual setting, and chat about what the show involves. You can also get some guidance on what character you should try for.

A group session will take place on the audition day where everyone will do singing, dancing, and acting as a group. During this group audition, those who want to try for lead roles will be taken to another room to do solo auditions, using one of the audition packs below. You do not have to do a solo audition - everyone who attends on audition day gets a role in the show, but you do have to do one if you want to be considered for a lead role.

Click on an audition pack below to view the script extract and sheet music for each character's audition. You will be asked to perform without the sheets in the audition, so be prepared! You can scroll further down the page to find the music.
