Matilda JR

Thespian Posters (25).png

Rebellious, clever, and a little bit magical, Matilda Wormwood is not your average girl. With a love of books, a sharp mind, and courage far beyond her years, she dares to stand up to the dreadful Miss Trunchbull, the terrifying headmistress who rules with fear. Along the way, Matilda discovers the power of friendship, imagination, and her own extraordinary gifts.

Packed with high-energy dance numbers, catchy songs, and plenty of heart, Roald Dahl’s Matilda JR. is a joyous, family-friendly musical that celebrates the power of stories and the courage to change your destiny. This is a must-see production that will delight audiences young and old — expect laughter, inspiration, and a little bit of magic!

Rehearsals are on Fridays at Little Aston Village Hall (B74 3UF) from 5pm till 7pm. It is £7.50 a session.

Show week will take place at The Marian Charlton Community Theatre (B74 3HR) from 24th to 28th June 2026.

To join our Little Aston musical theatre group's production of 'Matilda JR', you must attend the free of charge audition on 17th October 2025. No experience is necessary, and everyone gets a role! You are welcome to join the group before this date, where we will be doing skill building sessions, audition preparation, and learning more about the show, before we properly start rehearsing. Please note that the group is for ages 7 to 17

A group session will take place on the audition day where everyone will do musical theatre activities as a group. This allows us to see who stands out, and who works well together. During this group audition, those who want to try for lead roles will be taken to another room to do solo auditions, using one of the audition packs below.

You do not have to do a solo audition as everyone who attends on audition day gets a role in the show.

You do however, have to do a solo audition if you want to be considered for a lead role.

Click on an audition pack below to view the script extract for each character's audition.

You will be asked to perform without the sheets in the audition, so be prepared!
