Fourteen-year-old Jim and Jessie Hawkins are serving ale in The Admiral Benbow Inn, when suddenly the door slams open and in strides Billy Bones, the infamous pirate, who changes their lives forever… Soon, they find themselves on board The Jolly Todger and setting sail on the high seas, alongside their crew. The destination? A mysterious tropical paradise in the Caribbean named Treasure Island. Or Skeleton Island. Depending on who you ask.
Escape to Treasure Island in this swashbuckling, smash-hit, audience interaction based comedy, that will be enjoyed by all of the family! This version of Treasure Island, created by Le Navet Bete (a multi award-winning physical comedy company based in Devon) and one of UK theatre’s best comedy writers and directors, John Nicholson, is definitely one that you won't have seen before! Expect the unexpected!
Once casting is complete, rehearsals for this production are on Mondays at Brownhills Community Centre (WS8 7JS) from 7:00pm till 8:30pm. It is £5 a session.
To join our Brownhills drama group's production of 'Treasure Island', you must attend the free of charge audition on 8th September 2025. No experience is necessary, and everyone gets a role! You are welcome to join the group before this date, where we will be doing skill building sessions, audition preparation, and learning more about the show, before we properly start rehearsing. Please note that while the drama group is for ages 7 to 17, this show contains mild language and has some adult, inside jokes. Roles will therefore be cast age appropriately.
A group session will take place on the audition day where everyone will do drama activities as a group. This allows us to see who stands out, and who works well together. During this group audition, those who want to try for lead roles will be taken to another room to do solo auditions, using one of the audition packs below. You do not have to do a solo audition as everyone who attends on audition day gets a role in the show.
You do however, have to do a solo audition if you want to be considered for a lead role.
